In the side barrier test, protection was good for all critical body regions. However, the back-rest of the restraint of the 6 year dummy became separated from the base and the score was penalised for this.

The front passenger airbag can be disabled to allow a rearward-facing restraint to be used in that seating position. However, the information provided to the driver regarding the status of the airbag did not meet Euro NCAP's requirements and the system was not rewarded. All of the child restraint types for which the Tipo is designed could be properly installed and accommodated in all seating positions other than the rear centre seat which FIAT deem unsuitable for all restraints.
